The LINE Austin Creative Retreat

Attending the retreat was an incredibly grounding and revitalizing experience. Over the past couple of years, I’ve dealt with a lot of turbulence, and stress has taken a toll on my body. But what I didn’t realize I needed was space to move through that energy. This retreat was a powerful tool for transmuting stress into creative energy, and for the first time in a long time, I felt connected to my creative flow again. We journaled, we made things, and we moved!

I’ve had projects lying dormant for far too long, and this experience was just the shift of perspective I needed. One of the most impactful parts was meeting members of the Austin creative community. Even though I’m still fairly new to the scene, I felt so welcomed. I met artists who have been thriving here for years, and there wasn’t a single bad vibe in the room. It was clear that the curation of participants was intentional and thoughtful.

I facilitated a workshop too! It was called Mindful Painting/Collage/Drawing, and it was a meditative free create session. Leading my workshop was one of the most fulfilling moments of the retreat for me. It had been 12 years since I had done anything like this! Holding space for others to reflect, create, and connect through memory felt both intimate and energizing. It reminded me why I love this kind of creative work.

It felt like a peaceful, celebratory space where everyone was genuinely enjoying the moment and each other’s company. I didn’t want it to end. I’ll happily return because the connection and energy in that space were truly something special. It was the reset I didn’t know I needed.
